Special Olympics to attend Winter Moods concert on The Granaries

Members of the Special Olympics Malta bowling team yesterday got an unexpected surprise when Winter Moods frontman Ivan Grech, who is also the local ambassador for Special Olympics Malta, paid them a visit during their training session.  A number of athletes who are part of Malta’s Special Olympics team will now be attending the Winter Moods concert at the Granaries in Floriana this Friday.

NnG Promotions, who are organising the concert, explained that this is the band’s way of giving something back to the Maltese, who have always shown continuous and strong support to all the band’s ventures.

“The whole band is thrilled with the love and the support that our fans have consistently shown. The Waterfront concert was a major milestone in the history of Maltese music and this year we want to thank our loyal fans with another magical evening. I am happy to that the Special Olympics athletes who have worked so hard and overcome so many challenges will be joining us this Friday and I hope that they will enjoy a memorable concert this Friday,” said Ivan Grech.

Special Olympics Malta National Director Anna Calleja expressed her pleasure that so many members of the teams will now be able to enjoy the concert.

“Winter Moods are one of Malta’s most well-loved bands and we are very proud to have Ivan as our ambassador. Sports and creativity go hand in hand and this is a fantastic opportunity for a lot of our athletes. The athletes had already attended the 2008 concert at the Valletta waterfront and I take this opportunity to express my gratitude to Ivan and to Winter Moods for the continuous support they offer the Special Olympics Malta,” said Ms. Calleja.

Winter Moods are synonymous with the music scene in Malta and are well-known for playing to some of the biggest audiences on the island. The band has produced some of the most popular songs in Malta, which went on to become classics and also etched its name in Maltese music history during a memorable performance at the Valletta Waterfront in 2008. The concert attracted a record-breaking crowd of over 7500 people.

During the concert the band will be playing both new material from their latest album such as Last To Know and My Neverland and classics like Everyday Song and Marigold, which have become favourites with the Maltese.

Cruz, a five-piece band specialising in electronic rock, will also be performing on the night after winning the competition that was launched by Winter Moods and by 89.7 Bay to find a supporting band for the 2010 summer concert on the 30th July at The Granaries in Floriana.

Tickets for the 30th July concert start from €15 and are available from all Vodafone, Agenda and Exotique outlets or from www.nngpromotions.com. There is also an offer of  two tickets for the price of one to all Vodafone subscribers from Vodafone outlets.

The concert is supported by Vodafone and BANIF Bank. Over the recent years, NnG Promotions have established themselves as the  leading promoters of large scale concerts involving  top international artists including Joseph Calleja, Ronan Keating, Roger Waters, Bryan Adams, Sting, Elton John, Eros Ramazzotti, Duran Duran, Michael Bolton, Tom Jones, Abba – The Show and Laura Pausini.
